Steps to getting your truck licence with us
Study the theory for the class of licence you wish to obtain.
Pass the Knowledge Test at the RTA.
For LR, MR, HR, HC - Obtain the two Competency Based Assessment books from the RTA.
For MC - Pass RTA Medical test and have your paperwork marked "approved for doing MC".
Phone us on 02 6931 8141 and make a booking.
Once you have passed your competencies all you need to do is return to the RTA to have your new photo licence processed.
What class of licence do you need?
LR (Light Rigid): GVM of less than 8 tonnes or bus with more than 12 seats
MR (Medium Rigid): GVM of more than 8 tonnes with only 2 axles
HR (Heavy Rigid): GVM of more than 8 tonnes with 3 or more axles
HC (Heavy Cobination): Articulated or heavy trailer combination with GVM of more than 9 tonnes with 3 or more axles
MC (Multi Combination): Road Train or B-double

How much time will you need?
For LR & MR truck you will usually need up to 6 hrs to complete your instruction & assessment.
Most of our larger trucks have Road Ranger gearboxes and it may depend on your experience with this gearing as well as your driving experience. We can now offer HR & HC in a Synchro gearbox if required.
For inexperienced drivers we would want to book you in at least 2 half day blocks on separate days.
For experienced drivers, your training & assessment may be completed in a day.
