Fatigue Management

TLIF0005 Apply a fatigue risk management system

Fatigue knowledge and awareness is essential to ensure that all employees (including managers), who are involved in the fatigue risk management system, are able to demonstrate competence in managing driver fatigue.

For the purpose of operating under NHVAS accreditation fatigue management modules, any person who drives a fatigue-regulated heavy vehicle, is a scheduler, or is a supervisor or manager of drivers or schedulers, as described in the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), must demonstrate competency in fatigue risk management by completing fatigue units of competency.

The unit of competency TLIF0005 addresses new obligations for the fatigue management regulations enacted in the current Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL).

By undertaking this training, participants will learn how to:

  • Identify and manage fatigue risk in road transport
  • Operate within a road transport fatigue risk management system
  • Plan and navigate a heavy vehicle trip
  • Comply with work and rest hours
  • Update and maintain records

Upon completion of training, successful participants will receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment.
